Information and guidance signs are the ones you actually read while driving. They do not restrict you and they do not warn you; they tell you where you are, where the road goes, and how much room you have to decide.
The colour is the code. Blue grounds belong to freeways, green to other rural roads, white to local streets and destinations inside a town, and brown to tourism. Once you know the colour you know which road the sign is talking about before you have read a word of it.
The diagrammatic signs are the ones worth studying twice. They draw the junction ahead as a picture, with the lane you need already marked, and the test likes to ask which lane a given destination is in rather than what the sign is called.
In the test: Blue means freeway, green means a rural road that is not a freeway, white means local, brown means tourism. The exit countdown bars are 100 metres each.
