Why student24
Everything the test asks, in the order that makes sense
Rules of the road, road signs and markings, and vehicle controls. Nothing left out, and nothing padded.
Short video lessons
Two to three minutes each, narrated, with the real road signs on screen. Watch on a laptop or a phone.
A quiz after every lesson
Five questions on what you just watched, including picture questions on the signs themselves.
Section exams and practice papers
The official split: 28 rules, 28 signs, 8 controls. Marked exactly like the real paper, and timed.
A tutor that knows the course
Ask about any sign, rule or number from inside the lesson. The answer comes from the course, with the video attached.
A community that answers
Ask the students ahead of you. Climb the leaderboard as you finish lessons and pass exams.
Read it or watch it
Every lesson, written out with the signs in place
Not everyone wants to watch. Each lesson carries its notes: the whole script, with the official sign set beside the paragraph that explains it. Read the lot in one sitting, or use it to revise the night before.
- 619 signs and markings, straight from the manual
- Available in all eleven official languages
- The recap points of each lesson on their own tab

Know where you stand

Questions
Is it really free?
The K53 learner's licence course is free: every lesson, every quiz, every practice paper. We make money later from the tutor on the paid plan.
What does the real test cost?
The learner's licence fee is set by your testing centre, usually around R150 to R250, paid when you book. student24 does not take a cut and does not book the test for you.
How long does the course take?
About two and a half hours of video across 59 lessons. Most people spread it over a week and use the practice papers until they score above 90%.
Does it cover motorcycles and heavy vehicles?
The theory paper is the same for codes A, B and C, and the course covers all of it, including the motorcycle controls lesson.
Can I read instead of watching?
Yes. Every lesson has its notes: the whole script written out with the signs set beside the paragraphs that explain them, in any of the eleven official languages.
Is this an official Department of Transport product?
No. It is an independent study course based on the published K53 material. The test itself is booked and written at a licensed testing centre.
